Precision Wellbeing Qualifications

Tamara O’Dwyer – My Qualifications and History

In  2001, I qualified as a New Zealand Registered Nurse, with a Degree in Health Sciences (Nursing).

Since graduating, in an effort to gain a wide range of skills and knowledge, I have worked my way through a multitude of disciplines both in New Zealand and abroad – I even spent time working at a prominent West London Clinic for Plastic Surgery.

Although this was interesting, I quickly realised my passion lay in nutritional medicine which was where my focus shifted.

In 2007 I embarked on a part time Double Diploma in Nutrition and Naturopathy from the prestigious College of Naturopathic Medicine in London,UK.

Once qualified I moved back to New Zealand to take up a role as practice nurse/nutritionist for the renowned Dr William Ferguson at the Kumeu Village Medical Centre.

I am also trained and qualified through ACNEM (Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine).

While I still work part time with Dr Ferguson, I also work as an independent practitioner from my clinic located in the Restore Wellbeing hub in Te Atatu Peninsula.

I have a special interest and passion for, mental health, cancer (utilising the metabolic theory of cancer approach), and autoimmune diseases.

My Philosophy

I still practice nursing and thoroughly enjoy it! I also feel privileged to be working under Dr Ferguson, a well established functional medicine doctor who has let me apply my nutrition based care within his practice and has guided and mentored me over the last 14 years.

Having 22 years of nursing experience is a great fit with the functional and integrative nutritional approach I now have to health.

My journey to this approach began while I was working at a busy plastic surgery unit in London. It was through this experience that I became disillusioned with the current health paradigm; I felt we had become the “ambulance at the bottom of the cliff” and I realised that I most definitely wanted to be building fences at the top of that cliff!

I am also a mum of three children. I like to keep fit by running and doing pilates. I’m passionate about health and wellbeing, and have seen too many people who don’t put their health first and succumb to unnecessary ill health.

Not prioritising sleep, protein, exercise and inadequate relief of chronic stress are key contributors in the development and progression of preventable chronic diseases, including obesity, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and several types of cancer.

I would love the opportunity to work with you and focus on the nutritional, emotional and physical aspects of your own personal wellbeing to create your pathway to optimum health.

Client Testimonial

Tamara O’Dwyer is so knowledgeable and passionate, she has helped me immensely. She has explained to me what my problems are, why they are happening and what we can do about them.

I have tried different doctors and naturopaths but I never really got the results I was looking for until now.

Tamara made me feel comfortable and very confident in her knowledge and abilities.

I appreciate how she really knows her stuff! I recommend Tamara to anyone and everyone, she’ll be able to help!
